Abstract

The Haptic Carillon project is an ARC Linkage (APAI) with Industry partners, the National Capital Authority and Olympic Carillon International. Our objective is to create an electronic practice clavier with the sound and feel of a real carillon. This will solve a problem that has plagued carillonists for centuries, namely, the inability to practice their instrument in private. Progress has been made synthesising haptic characteristics of the traditional clavier. We propose to present a comparative demonstration of the haptic and original carillon clavier. This will happen in the clavier chamber of the National Carillon, Aspen Island on Lake Burley Griffin. 128
