Abstract
In the consensus decision-making online forum (CDOF), participants gather together to discuss and aim to reach consensus for a common issue they share. To enable the participants in the CDOF to achieve their own purpose in their own agreed way and to promote the discussion to develop efficiently and effectively, facilitation is introduced to help the group achieve efficient and effective decision making process by human facilitators. However, problems in the existing facilitation approaches such as human bias, function restriction and scalability arise with the increasing sophistication of these online discussions. As a result, it becomes critical to find approaches that support intelligent and automated facilitation in CDOF discussions.
This thesis mainly focuses on researching intelligent automated online forum facilitation support (IAOFFS) approaches that facilitates the discussion development in the consensus decision-making online forum.
