Abstract
Discrete Cosine transforms, (DCT), were originally introduced for digital signal processing, (DSP), for the purpose of pattern recognition and Wiener filtering. The 2D DCT is used for transform coding of images in telecommunications. It can be implemented by fast algorithms using either software or hardware.
