Abstract
The Jenike Minimum Strain Energy Theory is one of the more recent studies of stresses under flow conditions in the vertical section of bulk storage bins. Two of the major shortcomings in using the Jenike Theory for determining bin loads is the amount of mathematical calculati on required and the dependence on a number of charts for the provision of data. The availability of these charts in published literature is limited to one publication which contains data charts for bins of two particular height to diameter ratios for vertical sections of circular cross-section.
