Abstract

The distribution of population and the location of gas and oil reserves in Australia have led to the need for a network of land based pipelines. Pipeline Welding, being a highly repetitive process, lends itself to automation. Automation desired not only for improved costs but also to develop a welding process which would be less dependant on high level of skills and produce welds reproducible in the field.
