Publication Name

Cultivating Capstones: Designing High-Quality Culminating Experiences for Student Learning

Abstract

This chapter describes the curriculum transformation project’s design, objectives, and emergent outputs so that other institutions might adopt and apply a similar model to ensure quality learning outcomes for their capstone subjects. Capstone experiences and tasks became a key element for consideration in the ERoS project, as they are an important part of curriculum transformation work and curriculum evaluation models. The perspectives in the reflective statements offered by the project’s researcher and participant highlight some points for other institutions to consider when moving forward in capstone assessment evaluations: The process of reviewing capstone experiences between universities is useful. The pilot concluded that the collaborative peer reviewing of capstone experiences and tasks was a valuable tool in the quality assurance process and curriculum enhancement initiatives to ensure that universities are attaining learning goals and preparing employable graduates.
