Abstract
Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation theory is one of the most influential social theories that has been successfully applied to explain how, why, and at what rate new ideas, processes, and technology spread through a population or community. This essay introduces the key components of the theory, that is, the key determent factors for innovation success and the famous “S-curve” that represents the life cycle of an innovation. Diffusion of Innovation theory provides implementation science and practice with enormous utility and value for conceiving, designing, implementing, and evaluating the introduction of any innovations.
