Power Management of Advanced Material based Magnetic Linked Multiport Converter with Nonlinear Controller

Abstract

Advanced magnetic material based magnetic linked is widely used in different power converter applications, especially in multiport magnetic linked converters (MMLCs), e.g., for grid integration of renewable energy systems and electric vehicles. The bi-directional power flow is one of the features that the MMLC possesses. A non-linear model predictive controller (MPC) is proposed to manage the power flow of the MMLC. The proposed controller eliminates the overshoot and undershoot on the output waveform and has its de-coupling ability to cope the cross-couple characteristic of the MMLC. This allows each output port operating under different power ratings while operating the MMLC in the bi-directional power flow manner.
