Abstract

In this research paper, two new topologies for three phase AC-AC converters have been proposed. The presented power converters offer minimum input current total harmonic distortion (THD) of 2.36% for buck topology and 1.49% for single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) topology, high voltage gain, and efficiency of around 99.18% for buck and 99.32% for SEPIC topology, respectively, which are considered to be the preeminent performance of the converters. The performances of the offered topologies are tested with different type of loads including unbalanced and non-linear loads. The converters are also successfully operated with an induction motor load. The single switch utilization of the proposed converters generates very low power loss which leads to the high-power conversion efficiency. The superior performance of the presented converters in term of power quality ensures its industrial demand. Modeling of the proposed topologies and the performance evaluation are performed precisely with MATLAB/Simulink environment. The proposed AC-AC converters are also investigated through reduced scale experiments.
