Abstract
It is clear that Sam feels demoralised by his illness. It is not that he is depressed but rather that he does not have any vision of the kind of life he wants to lead or any confidence in his ability to develop a worthwhile life despite his illness. You feel that engaging him in rehabilitation can assist him to develop greater hope and self-efficacy and you are looking for ways in which you can check in with Sam to see if he is making progress in these areas.
