Abstract
The decomposition of a dead body is a complex phenomenon that is influenced by a wide range of factors [1]. Insects in particular have a profound influence on decomposition [2]. Facilities dedicated to the study of human taphonomic processes, known colloquially as 'body farms', must therefore acknowledge the key role of insects in the biology of death. This brief article suggests how body farms can facilitate research on insects to advance our knowledge and forensic application of these important creatures.
