Abstract
Dr Derek Anthony Duckhouse, who died on 9 January 2014, was an eminent South Australian dipterist. His taxonomic group of speciality was the Psychodidae (moth flies). He was a long-standing Fellow of the Royal Society of South Australia (33 years) and academic staff member of University of Adelaide (41 years). Anyone fortunate enough to have worked with Derek or to have been taught by him will recall a kind, highly principled man with an infectious enthusiasm for invertebrate zoology and a deeply held commitment to scholarship and the welfare of his colleagues and students.
