Abstract
Editorial: Epidemiological transitions, the burden of chronic disease, increased emphasis on social determinants of health, fiscal constraints, workforce issues and a growing emphasis on population health have changed the health care landscape. These changes mean that current health care models are often no longer effective or efficient. This creates diverse and exciting opportunities for nurses to step into a range of roles, using their unique clinical skills in creative ways to enhance health and wellbeing across the lifespan. This special issue of Collegian, signals this sea change and celebrates some of the exciting work being done to date in this area.
