Abstract

Australia has several important security interests in the South China Sea (hereafter referred to as the East Sea). This paper iwll outline seven interests in the East Sea and the policy responses to challenges to those interests. The paper will assess Australia's policy and defence responses to its East Sea interests and for maintenance of the geopolitical status quo.
