Abstract
This book is the outcome of a session that addressed issues of Indigenous contemporaty art at the 2013 College Art Association (CAA) conference in New York. If Indigenous art was once considered a highly localised pre-national expression its contemporary fommations have a very global and post-national perspective. This globalism is evident in the geographic range of essays in this book, which cover art in Africa, Australia, Canada Mexico and the United States, with scholars drawn from a similar range of countries with the notable absence of Europe.
