Abstract
Raewyn Campbell considers the role of nerdom in narratives about contemporary gender roles, noting that males are more culturally credible as nerds than are women. As male nerds are largely validated through conforming to notions of hegemonic masculinity, female nerds are unable to sit comfortably within this paradigm.
