Abstract
Finite sample power results for an important class of alternatives are simulated for tests of uniformity based on the logarithms of mth order gaps. These are then compared with other tests of uniformity, and it is concluded that the test based on the logarithms of third-order gaps performs very well. An indication is given that the performance will still be good for a very different class of alternatives.
