Abstract
It was September 2002 when the chancellor Sri Vinay Hegde called me to let me know about an Australian visitor Dr Naveenchandra Shetty to our department. Having taken over as a Department head just over a year then, I was in an overwhelming state. Having to establish a department in a new Medical School, ambitions to initiate a DNB program and growing my interest to continue a number of drug trials and midst of all my chaotic personal lifestyle-my daughter & wife in ICU and me having my left arm in aplaster cast following a life threatening road traffic accident! I did not have an expression to describe my emotional state! Any help from anyone was most welcome.
