Abstract
See Bill Readings' 1he University in Ruins (1996) for a vision of the university as adecomposing institution, animated only by the bureaucratized processes that surroundthe administration of noxious metrics of 'excellence'. The death of higher education hasbeen announced- at least, the death of the ideal traditional university, which was already'a monstrous body stitched together from Bologna, Cambridge, Berlin, and Baltimore.
