Abstract

The enhancement of the critical current density (Jc) has been achieved by introducing (Y/Nd)Ba2Cu3O7 [(Y/Nd)BCO] multilayered structure into relatively thick films (~ 1000 nm) produced by pulsed laser deposition. The microstructure of the multilayered systems obtained has been shown to improve from the bottom to the top layers, producing dislocations at the interfaces. The (Y/Y)BCO single-element multilayered deposition is also shown to comparably increase Jc, which is attributed to the extended time of particle mobility creating ``multilayered" interfaces and acting in a similar way as for the (Y/Nd)BCO interfaces.
