Abstract
David Hastie and Peter Wypych from the Centre for Bulk Solids and Particulate Technologies at the University of Wollongong recently completed an experimental program into the nature of particle flow trajectories through conveyer transfers using granular polyethylene pellets, subjected to varying belt speeds and material flow rates. The aim of the research was to compare the experiment's results with numerical trajectory methods as well as the newer discrete element method (DEM) for calculating material flows.
