Abstract
Experimental investigation combined with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) has been carried out to study the strip edge fracture during rolling process. The effects of rolling schedules on edge crack initiation and growth rate have been discussed. Decreasing the friction coefficient is effective in preventing the microcracks, and the total reduction plays an important role in the crack evolution during cold rolling. Characterization of rolling stress distribution and edge drop across the strip width worsened the edge crack initiation and propagation.
