On Iterative Compensation of Clipping Distortion in OFDM Systems

Abstract
We consider an iterative compensation (IC) method to treat clipping distortion in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with clipping. A conventional approach is using extrinsic information (EI) from a decoder to estimate and cancel clipping distortion iteratively. In this letter, feedback in the form of a posteriori information (API) from the decoder is investigated. Correlation may be introduced among messages in iterative processing when API is directly used as feedback. We show that carefully choosing a linearization model can suppress such correlation. Simulation results show that the API approach outperforms the EI one.
