Abstract
In a renewable energy based small remote area power supply system, the frequency response is supported during frequency dip by conventional generators only. This may result in a less effective recovery of system frequency. Renewable energy resources, i.e. wind turbine can support the frequency recovery if they have power reserve and fast response capability. In this paper, an improved control technique has been proposed for PMSG based wind turbine so that it can have reserve power and be able to support frequency response.
