Abstract
The design of bucket wheel mechanism of bucket wheel stackerreclaimer mainly refers to the bucket wheel excavator's design specifications, which is rather conservative. To expand the research of this area, the Discrete Element Method(DEM)and its corresponding analysis software EDEM were used to simulate the reclaiming process(including digging, lifting, and discharging) of the bucket wheel mechanism under different rotational speeds. The comparison of simulation and theoretical calculation shows: digging resistance is proportional to rotational speed, and in the speed range of gravity type discharge, the discharge interval overall shifts to the left and becomes more decentralized. Discharge effect performs best at 5rpm.
