Abstract

Have your students been exposed to the same physical education units year after year-basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, etc? Are you looking for new and innovative ways to get your students involved in an exciting physical education learning experience? If so, consider incorporating Celtic throwing games into the physical education curriculum. Celtic throwing games were initially designed to test an individual's level of strength, which sounds like an activity for those students who possess incredible strength. However, Celtic throwing games can be modified to meet the diverse educational needs of your entire class. This article provides guidelines for developing and implementing a unit of Celtic throwing games by covering: (1) equipment, (2) rules, (3) events, and (4) teaching suggestions.
