Abstract

This paper reviews the teaching approaches covering methods, activities and strategies to establish a suitable and effective learning process for postgraduate students to study the discipline of engineering asset management (EAM). It explores appropriate approaches to teaching and learning and assuring students engagement to gain knowledge of EAM discipline. A general framework has been developed that can be tailored to the particular need/context for guiding the construction of a suitable approach. The challenges of teaching in this discipline have been articulated in a way that reflects the concerns of teaching and learning through the practice of designing and delivering teaching and learning activities for EAM postgraduate students to achieve the learning goals. An iterative cycle approach has been adopted covering design, implementation, analysis and revision for improvement. The suitable teaching and learning approach for EAM has been established.
