Abstract
The geographical setting of Amrun bauxite mine in Queensland, coupled with its pronounced wet season, poses significant operational challenges due to pit inundation. The current water management solutions, such as the shared pumping infrastructure with the sister mine, Andoom, are insufficient, leading to notable operational inefficiencies and financial implications. This paper is aimed at assessing the impact of pit inundation during the wet season on the mining operations at the Amrun mine and evaluating potential strategies for infrastructure upgrades to mitigate these operational challenges.
