Abstract
Along with Mexicans, Filipinos migrate around the world looking for work in the greatest numbers. Estimates are that currently around seven million people - ten per cent of the Filipino population, 20 per cent of the country's labour force including "undocumented" workers - work overseas. Officially, in 2002, nearly 700,000 people left the Philippines to work in landbased occupations, in nearly every country and territory in the world.
