Abstract
In his letter [1], Paparazzo commented on interpretation of our results obtained using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), which led us to conclusion that calcium doped CeO2 nanoparticles are more stable than undoped nanoparticles against processes stimulating reduction of Ce4+ to Ce3+, in particular, Ar+ ion bombardment [2]. In his opinion, our interpretation ‘‘is largely unwarranted’’. Here we present additional arguments, based on the XPS data [2], that our conclusion mentioned above is indeed valid.
