Abstract

Implantable electrodes have been of interest for decades. We have witnessed important advances in the field of bionics wherein implantable electrodes serve as the conduit to record nerve signals and deliver electrical stimulation to tissues and organs in living systems. Today, the clinical use of electrical stimulation is broad and the benefit widely accepted. Here we review the state of the-art in the emerging field of new implantable electromaterials for use in medical bionics and electroceuticals.
