Abstract

Materials with a mesoporous structure have revealed great potential in a wide range of applications, particularly for energy conversion and energy storage devices. Mesoporous materials with crystalline pore walls exhibit many attractive features. Here we utilize a mesoporous iron phosphonate material (synthesized by combining organo-phosphonic acid and iron salt) with crystalline pore walls as an anode material in Li-ion rechargeable batteries. Our experimental findings prove that the mesoporous iron phosphonate electrode has a large energy storage capacity and an excellent stability.
