RESEARCH IMPACT STATEMENT

Research Background
55 minute choral-orchestral work based on TGH Strehlow’s Journey to Horseshoe Bend commissioned by Symphony Australia with funding from the Australia Council for performance by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. It comprises a symphonic cantata for solo voices, narrators, choirs and orchestra with music by Andrew Schultz and libretto by Gordon Kalton Williams.

Research Contribution
Journey to Horseshoe Bend is a cantata developed in consultation with the Strehlow Research Centre and Alice Springs Aranda people. It is a musical interpretation of TGH Strehlow's autobiographical novel of the same name. Fascinating narratives of Australian history, fusing European and Aboriginal traditions, unfold as a spiritual voyage of discovery.
