Abstract

The Convention on Biological Diversity 1992 (the Biodiversity Convention) has as its primary objective the conservation of biological diversity. Running a close second is the objective of sustainable use of biological diversity. Simultaneous achievement of such objectives often runs contrary to the desires of large landowners in Australia, particularly when such landowners are engaged in primary production industries.
