Abstract

See Bill Readings' 1he University in Ruins (1996) for a vision of the university as a decomposing institution, animated only by the bureaucratized processes that surround the administration of noxious metrics of 'excellence'. The death of higher education has been announced- at least, the death of the ideal traditional university, which was already 'a monstrous body stitched together from Bologna, Cambridge, Berlin, and Baltimore.
