Abstract
This thesis details an investigation in two key areas of metal-organic framework (MOF) chemistry; the post-synthetic reactivity of framework materials and the gas sorption characteristics of novel porous MOFs. Chapter 2 explores the post-synthetic oxidation of iodofunctionalised frameworks and their characteristics, while Chapter 3 describes an investigation into two novel thermally-promoted MOF modifications. Chapter 4 elaborates on the syntheses and gas sorption properties of novel sulfone-functionalised frameworks, and finally Chapter 5 closes the thesis with an exploration into the multi-step post-synthetic modification of a known allyloxy-functionalised IRMOF-9 architecture, and the synthesis of a novel strontium-based allyloxy-tagged framework.
