Abstract

This thesis describes the development and benchmarking of photodissociation action spectroscopy instrumentation bringing together a commercial linear ion trap mass spectrometer and multiple pulsed laser systems. The focus of the thesis is then a study of the spectroscopy and photochemistry of gas-phase protonated pyridine derivatives using this instrumentation.
