Abstract

The concept of a new motor developE^t requires that an analysis technique be developed in order that the performance of any particular design may be predicted thereby enabling the optimisation of the motor design parameters to be carried out. Such a need for an analysis technique has arisen with the initial development of a novel induction motor intended to compete primarily with conventional single phase motors operating from a single phase power supply. However its performance and operation is essentially that of a two phase induction motor and has thus been given the tentative name of a "Quasi - Two Phase Induction Motor".
