Abstract

In the present chapter we introduce the set-up for the rest of these notes as well as explain the approximation scheme we employ in our approach. The idea is to introduce a spectral ‘cut-off’ by the characteristic function of the interval [−n, n] for a positive integer n. We use the subscript n on the operators introduced in Chap. 3 to indicate these spectrally cut-off or ‘reduced’ versions.
