Two-Dimensional Material-Based Heterostructures for Rechargeable Batteries

Abstract

Heterostructures based on two-dimensional material (2D-based heterostructures) have attracted tremendous attention in materials science and materials engineering due to their unique physical and chemical properties as well as their tunable compositions, structures, and morphologies. Owing to the functional interactions derived from heterointerfaces, 2D-based heterostructures are widely used in rechargeable batteries as active materials, catalysts, supportive frameworks, hosts for active materials, and separators. In this minireview, the structures, designs, synthetic methods, and applications in rechargeable batteries of 2D-based heterostructures are summarized. The remaining challenges are discussed, and personal perspectives on future investigations of 2D-based heterostructures in rechargeable batteries are proposed.
