Abstract

• Understanding the broader legal system and how it interacts with Pacific young people and their families is important in finding positive and practical solutions.
• Specific Pacific social risk and protective factors can assist in developing innovative practice strategies to address criminogenic and recidivist offending behaviour.
• Promoting good policy responses to resource effective rehabilitative responses within the legal system is an important approach to youth justice.
• Utilising Pacific models of practice will also ensure a culturally appropriate and holistic approach.
