Abstract

Influenza vaccination of healthcare workers (HCWs) prevents nosocomial outbreaks and reduces mortality among patients.

1: During the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) advised HCW vaccination as a priority. Limited available data suggest low acceptance rates and have given rise to divided opinions about vaccine safety and efficacy.

2: We examined pandemic influenza vaccination rates, the reasons behind acceptance or refusal, and perceptions of 1282 HCWs directly involved in patient care in a 767-bed tertiary hospital.
