Abstract
"We don’t dial 911,” it says. Below the text is a handgun motif imposed on a map of Texas. “Don’t mess with Texas,” says another slogan in a souvenir shop in San Antonio, although the original intention was to warn visitors about littering in the second largest state in the US, where it is legal to carry concealed fi rearms, just as it is legal in all states except Washington DC.
Malaysian parents may or may not know of the relationship between Americans and guns, and in some cases, carrying guns to classes, resident halls and dormitories. I got to know about the gun culture on my recent trip to Illinois and Texas.
