Abstract
There he was in a grey bush jacket, meeting the estate committee on plans to build a road and provide garbage disposal service — if the residents voted for Gerakan. So we did, in 1974 and 1978.
Soon after the election, the 1km dirt road that cut through the cemetery into the estate in Mount Erskine, Penang, was sealed and tarred. We fi nally stopped dumping our kitchen trash into the murky stream that turned into sludge whenever it rained.
