This two-day academic conference has the purpose of informing the Australian public as well as government officials, politicians, business people, academics, students and non-government organisation members about economic, political and social aspects of Malaysia's development into the twenty-first century. Its theme will be "Malaysia and 2020: The Dynamics of Change". The first day will be devoted to economic and income distribution aspects, and the second day to political and social aspects including the role of NGOs. An outstanding list of mainly Malaysian speakers (there will be six speakers per day, allowing ample time for discussion) has been arranged. There will also be a program of cultural events on Friday, 21 November, and the Malaysia Society is organising a colloquium over the weekend.
