Abstract
This journal of the University of Wollongong History Society aims at promoting all fields of history and inter-related disciplines. It therefore welcomes submissions of suitable scholarly articles. The Society wishes to apologise to the contributors to the first issue, namely, to Ruby Makula for the omission of the footnotes which were included in her original manuscript; and, to Glenn Mitchell for the physical layout which sometimes cut off the speaker's initials and confused the interview. The views expressed in this magazine are those of the contributors and not necessarily those of the History Society , the Department of History, nor that of the University.
