RESEARCH IMPACT STATEMENT

Research background

‘Deeply Offensive and Utterly Untrue’ is an original work of documentary theatre by company, ‘version 1.0’ that investigates the Australian Wheat Board 'Kickbacks' scandal. The production is responses to the 8,500 page Cole Enquiry transcripts. ‘version 1.0’ is an ensemble of artists who make performance through collaboration, investigating and also enacting democracy. Their performances are simultaneously political and intensely personal, based on strong research, and engage with significant political and social issues.

Research contribution

As physical dramaturg and ‘outside eye’, Ryan was a key member of the creative and research team for this production by Version 1.0. His role provided objective dialogues and 'on the floor' exploration of physical strategies for the creation of scene work, transitions and the construction of meaning.
