RESEARCH IMPACT STATEMENT

Research Background

Rhubarb Rhubarb is a collective of young artists including writer: Eddie Sharp, director: Will Mansfield and co-devisor: Cecily Hardy, interested in exploring notions of 'mash-up/remix culture' presented as a live event. The 'DIY', hybrid and mixed media aesthetic utilises hand-made holographics and dioramas, tiny cameras, VHS and digital formats with a live performer.

Research contribution

Dramaturgically, Ryan’s role was to work with the writer, director, performer and stage-manager, in order to translate ideas into practice, and to ensure the structural integrity of the work in terms of both form and content. In particular, it was important to ensure that each element of this production from the work undertaken by the performer to the multiple and intricate technical staging effects were integrated meaningfully.

Research significance

Commissioned and developed by Next Wave through Kickstart 2009 and presented as part of Next Wave's 2010 at CMI, Studio 1, Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI), Federation Square, Melbourne. ‘Some Film Museums I Have Known’ was also supported by HotHouse Theatre’s A Month in the Country artist in residence program, funded jointly by Albury City and The Myer Foundation.
