A theoretical model for the upwelling of homogeneous water over -a bottom profile is considered. The model consists of a north-south coastline in the southern hemisphere with a continental shelf and slope to the east. A wind stress is assumed to have acted on the surface for a sufficient length of time to produce steady-state motion.
