The purpose of this project was to develop a pilot proforma for monitoring food systems within local government areas (LGA's). The proforma was intended to be used by local government staff and health professionals working within a local government setting. The content and structure of the proforma was principally based on a review of relevant literature and professional judgement. The project was based on five project principles for wider local government involvement in local food systems, namely, social justice, environmental sustainability, multistrategic involvement, intersectoral collaboration and conraiunity empowerment.
